All You Need To Know When You Travel Australia`s Outback - Part Three

Press Release Summary = In some places of the Outback

Press Release Body = Hawthorn, Australia. February 15, 2007--Water is most precious
in Australia as the continent is prone to severe periods of drought. When traveling
the scorchy Outback, you\'ll learn to appreciate just how valuable water is.

Carry and drink plenty of water in your travel. Remember that the body\'s thirst
mechanism is set on delay, which means by the time your brain tells you you\'re
thirsty, your body has suffered from minor dehydration already. In the
exceptionally high temperatures of the Outback, dehydration could occur more rapidly
than you expect.

Rule of thumb: Carry four litres of water per day per person.

Non-perishables
Have more than enough food supply to last you in your journey in the Outback. It\'s
better to have some supplies left over rather than pack just enough. Food is
essential especially in rough unknown surroundings, or if you are lost and have no
idea what the distance is to the next township.

Take items which are only non-perishables though, like ready-to-eat canned meats,
fruits and vegetables, and high energy foods like peanut butter, jelly, crackers,
granola bars. Make sure you have a can opener or knife for cutting open foil and
plastic pouches. Pack food in plastic zipper bags to keep them dry and as airtight
as possible.

Petrol Consumption
Always have your car on full tank. And have some spare petrol at hand, too, as
petrol stations are few and far between in the Aussie Outback, and the trading hours
are very short. A good advice is that chart your petrol consumption before you
leave.

Mobile phones
True to their name, mobile phones should go with you as you trek the Outback. But a
dead mobile phone isn\'t very much use to anyone, so don\'t forget to take a charger
that can be used in the car\'s lighter. In some places of the Outback, you may not
get a signal, in which case a Citizen\'s Band radio may come in handy on your
journey.
